Nail Care Regime
In the previous blogs, I focused on the factors that can cause damage to the natural nails. Moving further, let's now focus on the good things and what routine can result in full growth.
1. Nail oil pens: Many brands are selling these refilling pens that contribute a lot to the nail journey. I like to toss these babies almost everywhere I go; at work, traveling, watching movies, etc. You can get these pens on many websites. However, you can make your own custom nail oil yourself that completely depends on what oil suits best for you. I will be pinning some oils that work well for nails. To be honest, all oils have moisturizing properties which are good for your nails and cuticles.
CARRIER OILS:
1. Jojoba oil
2. Vitamin E oil
3. Avocado oil
4. Almond oil
5. Grapeseed oil
ESSENTIAL OILS:
1. Lavender oil
2. Lemon oil
3. Eucalyptus oil
4. Rosemary oil
5. Chamomile oil
There are many others too but I focused on those which are widely available in India and won't cost you a fortune.
Amongst the above, the oil I love is 100% jojoba oil and vitamin E oil combined together. Jojoba is amazing on its own but the oil is runny and hence adding vitamin E oil thickens it which is absolutely perfect for application. Apply this goodness all over your nails and DO NOT FORGET YOUR UNDERSIDES TOO.
2. Moisturizer: Keep your hands and cuticles moisturized. The moisturizers enriched with vitamin E are best but if you use the ones with shea butter they do wonders too. I love heavy creams and cuticle butter for the night time, I apply them and put on cotton gloves to let my skin soak all the goodness. If you can, you can apply the butter in the day time too, when you do not intend to put your hands underwater for a minimum of 2 hours after application.
3. DO NOT CUT YOUR CUTICLES: They act as a bridge between your nails and skin. Cutting them is like inviting unwanted infections. Rather, just push them back after they are nicely soaked in oil/cuticle butter.
4. Acetone: Lastly, if you use acetone to remove the polish, oil your cuticles and skin around your nail first. Do not rub your nails with acetone, which tends to dry them out. Soak a cotton ball/pad in acetone and press it on your nails for 10-20 secs and then push it away. Like this, you give time for the polish to melt/dissolve in the acetone and a push ensures the maximum of the product is off your nail.
I HOPE THESE TIPS WERE HELPFUL FOR YOU ALL AND THAT YOU TRY THEM OUT. DO LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE THEM, HELPS ME KEEP GOING! THANK YOU, PEACE.
