HOW TO FIX A BROKEN NAIL?

Welcome back loves, hope the nail journey is going amazing and those babies are growing long and healthy. I hope they keep growing and don't break EVER. Because breaking them hurts badly as a bitch lol.

It is not rainbows every day, so let's be prepared to face the worst. we will be talking about fixing the nail break today. I will classify them in 2 types:

  1. Nail tip break (beyond the nail bed)
  2. A crack on the nail bed

Lets first focus on the tip break: This is less painful physically but it hurts even more emotionally (cries in the corner) to fix this, I have classified the below methods:

  • Teabag method
  • Dipping powder method
  • Filing
  • Teabag method: For this, all you need is an empty teabag which you would want to cut into the size of your crack. Now apply some nail glue to the crack and place the piece of teabag on it. Use tweezers so you don't smear the glue on your other hand. Once the piece is firmly secured, buff the surface to smooth out the bumps and then apply a thick coat of base coat and then polish to secure it.
  • Dipping powder method: This is the easiest and wide known method. All you need to do is apply the base (activator) which helps the powder to stick on your nails. While the base is still wet stick the nail in the dipping powder and remove the excess by tapping on your finger. Repeat this 2-3 times depending on the build-up you need. Buff the surface smooth and add a top coat to seal everything in.

  • Filing: This is simply filing your nail until the crack is gone. This will shorten the length of your nail. I recommend using a glass file because it works wonders and doesn't tear your nail.
Now talking about the break on nailbed, you can do all the above steps but please note if the cut is deep and is bleeding, I recommend NOT to use glue or nail polish on the fresh wound which might later be septic and hurt your nail matrix. Rather just wrap it with some medical tape and slowly try to file the nail tip holding the nail bed for support and for less pain. Once the crack outgrows, file it off and start fresh. A fresh start is always better than a hurt nail.
Stay happy, stay safe!! Peace!!
